work, work, work

Here are a few pics from a divesite the other day... It's Chris, the guy I work with , Filfla island in background and the truck I drive everyday... Hit many a curbs with those tires...:)
So, nothing too exciting has been going on just working alot. Diving everyday and have about 10 certs so far. My first DMT is finishing this week and I have 2 people starting an Advanced Course tomorrow. Today is my day off, I have every Saturday off and have just relaxed, read and am at the Irish Bar about 50 steps from our flat, stealing the internet. We will be working here till late fall but then the diving slows way down so once again we may be moving!
Well, gotta go to a BBQ... miss everyone!

Malta

Living the high life in Silver Star Apartments:)
Our street, the shop Maypole bakes fresh bread everyday all day... it's very bad for the diet

Here's where I work everyday, told you it was small
Pretty Bay... ha
Nice view ...
Some sailing race.

The race right near my shop...My diveshop is at the polo club on the left, the shop is actually a really really small bit of the club.

One of the most popular divesites... Cirkewwa. There are 2 wrecks and many different types of wall dives you can do there along with one to visit the Madonna statue at 18meters.

The Blue Grotto

Just one of the many many inlets in Malta, each town has one at least and

they all are filled with boats

Independence

Cameron and I celebrated the 4th of July with potato salad and hot dogs... it wasn't the same but as close as we are going to get. I have to admit I was missing Grandma's brisket, eating crabs, playing holy board and oh yeah, the fireworks!!!
Well here we go with another work week... Oh yeah, I forgot to tell we got a DMT(divemaster trainee)! His name is Sam and he's really cool and I am having fun teaching him...
My dive center is at a Polo Club which alot of the locals belong to and in the afternoons about 3-4 tables of old ladies in their bathing suits sit around outside the shop and play cards, smoke cigarettes and eat pistachios. It's pretty cute.
On Friday night we are going to a show called the Shaolin Monks in Valletta and they are supposed to be amazing, they do all kinds of acrobatics. Cam is going to take me sailing on Saturday... He has fallen in love with it and is already wanting to buy a Hobie Cat!
Best get back to work...
xoxo
Happy Belated Birthday Pfeltz!!!

2 Years

2 years ago yesterday I left home and arrived in Roatan (Cam being one of the first people I met). Cameron and I went out and celebrated last night. In a way it feels like I've only been gone a few months and also somehow feels like forever.

Cam and I are off on Saturday and he has his sailing course and I am going to go to the beach and hang out while he is doing that and we want to try to rent a jetski (cam has never been on one!) in the afternoon. Things are going good. It's very very very hot right now... I dont even remember Egypt being so hot! Good I spend most of the time in the sea! My driving is slowly improving and am having more confidence and unfortunately am starting to drive like the locals! I think you have to if you want to get anywhere... I've finished up with 2 more students and have 3 teenagers starting next week!

Well gotta go diving...

I'm all grown up now...

In case you didnt know I had a birthday since the last time I posted... Somehow I have turned 30. Im not really sure how this could happen to me. Im only a baby.
So Last week Cam and I celebrated our birthdays, his is 2 days before mine, and we luckily had the same day off and decided to go to Gozo, the island next door. We took the ferry over and had some food and drove around and even went for a dive... We dove a wreck that was sunk a few years ago, an old ferry and it even had a Volkswagen beetle on it!
So I have started work, This is the beginning of my 3rd week. I am working at a Polo club that has a huge seawater pool and has a great view of the sea. So far I have only had one student... a 10 year old Russian girl who doesnt speak any English... needless to say she didn't stay my student for too long... So still waiting for that first certification!!! Have had quite a few customers, just none doing courses.
Settling into our apartment... Got some pictures printed and put up and a few other little things. We just found out our roommate is leaving at the end of the month. She is here doing her Divemaster Course but has been working for some company in Cambridge doing ecology research of Antarctica and has been her dream for a few years to get this job working in Antarctica, diving and doing lab studies and collecting animals and data... but the job is a commitment of 2 1/2 years!!! She just found out she got the job! So crazy I can barely grasp the idea of Antarctica let alone being there for 2 1/2 years! She is SUPER excited but now we will have to find a new roommate!
Cam and I had the day off yesterday and rented a car and drove around the island. It was a really nice day. The weather here is great, it's hot during the day but still cools quite a bit at night. I have been trying to take care but am beginning to look like a raccoon these days with the tan lines of my sunglasses getting worse and worse each day...
Well, just taking a quick break from work so better get back... much more to tell but will have to be another day.
